Why get a Visa "Prior to Arrival"?
While Thailand does offer "Visa on Arrival" (VOA) for Indian tourists, many travelers prefer to secure a standard tourist visa before flying. Here is why:
- Avoid Long Queues: The VOA lines at Suvarnabhumi Airport (Bangkok) can take 2-3 hours during peak season, exhausting you before your trip even begins.
- Longer Stay: VOA typically limits your stay to 15 days, whereas a pre-approved tourist visa allows you to stay up to 60 days.
- Peace of Mind: Having your visa stamped beforehand guarantees entry (subject to immigration) and removes any last-minute stress at the airport.
Documents Required
- Passport: Original passport valid for at least 6 months with 2 blank pages. Include any old passports.
- Photos: 2 recent photographs (35x45mm, matte finish, white background, 80% face coverage).
- Financials: Original bank statements for the last 6 months, signed and stamped by the bank. Must show a minimum balance (usually INR 50,000+ per person).
- Travel Docs: Confirmed return air ticket and confirmed hotel reservation for the entire stay.
- Employment: Leave approval letter from employer / NOC. If business owner, company registration and covering letter on company letterhead.
