BAMS Course Details

BAMS is a 5.5-year undergraduate degree in Ayurvedic medicine. It covers core subjects like anatomy, physiology, pathology, and Ayurvedic pharmacology. Students are trained in Panchakarma (Ayurvedic detox), surgery, and clinical practices. The program includes both theoretical learning and real-world exposure in Ayurvedic hospitals. Graduates can work as Ayurvedic doctors, researchers, or wellness consultants.

Duration of BAMS Course

The total duration of the BAMS course is 5.5 years. This includes 4.5 years of academic study and 1 year of compulsory internship.The curriculum follows NCISM guidelines and is divided into semesters. Students begin clinical training early in the course. During the final year, they rotate through departments in Ayurvedic hospitals for hands-on practice.


Eligibility for BAMS

Must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English. A minimum of 50% in PCB (40% for reserved categories). NEET-UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Undergraduate) is mandatory. Must be 17 years old by December 31 of the admission year. Both Indian nationals and NRIs can apply.

Qualify NEET-UG, the only accepted entrance test for BAMS admissions.

Apply through AACCC (AYUSH Admission Central Counseling Committee) or state-level portals.

Document Verification

Submit 10+2 certificates, NEET scorecard, ID proof, and other required documents.

Step 4


Choice Filling

Select preferred Ayurvedic colleges and programs during online counseling.

Step 5


Seat Allotment & Reporting

Seats are allotted based on rank and choices. Report to the allotted college with original documents.

Step 6


Confirm Admission

Pay fees, complete formalities, and begin the academic session as per the college schedule.
